  Sir Rowan Arden is the son of Prince Thomas Windsor, a minor vampire prince of pureblood. His mother was no vampire and, because of how vampires view human beings, she might as well have been a sewer rat. Rowan's very existence causes shame to his father's family and he is an outcast both among vampires and humans alike. He was raised unwillingly by a lowly knight who served his father and though he wasn't exactly mistreated, Rowan had never known what is was to be loved. He had never felt like he belonged anywhere or like he was wanted anywhere - and that feeling caused him to grow up with a lot of bitterness.
